There are certain things in life that feel...like magic.
Today I felt the need to express myself with words, as I haven't felt in awhile. There was a soft rain, that I hadn't noticed until I could smell the after-rain smell wafting in through the screen door. I thought maybe that meant rain was to come, but it had already rained.
After it rains, everything smells fresh. Green. Alive. Like magic. It's so clear and crisp, like nothing else in the world. I pulled on a deep green sweatshirt, still barely worn and feeling a comfy kind of soft that makes you instantly feel warm and cozy, and walked outside. My new backyard is like walking into a miniature version of an over-blown fairytale. There is sprawling growth everywhere, the yard is constantly in bloom, filled with flowers. Ivy stretches out across the lawn almost to a decadent waterfall with huge stones and aquatic plant life. It feels like a fairytale.
I allow myself to revel in it's beauty, swiftly compelled to write.
I am rereading twilight, which may have sparked some of the fantasy juices swirling in my brain. I imagine myself in Forks, or even Oregon or Washington, surrounded by the sweet after-scent of rain and the outrageous green growth covering every surface. It feels like the kind of moment that soothes the soul, a quiet cool that brings me back to life.
